Somehow, despite a massive last-minute rush, we completely fluked getting the luscious Emily to grace model for Auto Salon.

As far as models go, Emily Hill is definitely someone to keep an eye on. She is gorgeous, natural, classy and smart. She presents with full confidence but is also willing to listen and learn: a true professional considering she was only discovered a few months back! “I met a guy around February who basically put me in contact with Chic model management. At first I wasn’t too keen about it, but my friends and family kept urging me to do it,” she recalls. “You know how it goes, you always start with the thought you might not be good enough – but, here I am.” She says with a knowing smile.

“I guess it had to happen,” she adds coyly, “I do like having my photo taken. I guess I am a poser, just ask my friends.” Now she’s really laughing, “Besides, what better way to make money then to dress up in designer clothes and shoes and get paid for it, right?” Well, we sure can’t fault any of that logic.

So how did we end up with Emily across our pages? In all truth, she was a gamble. Having a good comp card is not enough to get booked anymore; it’s now ASM policy to have casting days for feature models. Long gone are the days of emailing through photos and getting the job there and then. Having said that, unfortunately this particular issue did creep up on us and, adding to the mix, the editor brought the deadlines forward [thanks Charles]. So after a quick phone call to the agency and a blind casting call off we went, hoping to have made the right choice with Emily. It would be the first (and probably only time) we would pick a model for both the front cover and the editorial pages without a proper casting. And it all hanged in the balanced ‘till that Thursday morning at Peter Collie’s studio. Walking into that studio, nice and early with studio lights dangling from the shoulders, one arm full of reference shots and magazines and the other holding breakfast (a nutritious can of V) we took one look at Emily and we knew we had our girl.
